It is powered by a high performance 40V MAX Lithium Ion battery that provides a lengthy runtime and longer battery life. It provides up to 33% increased battery pack capacity on a single charge. The battery is easily removed with just a click of a button. An added feature is the state of charge indicator which shows the battery charge level.  A fast charger is included so you can recharge and be back to trimming in about an hour or so.

The Black and Decker LST136 is part of the BLACK+DECKER 40- Voltlithium-ion system. This means that the battery can be used on a number of products including a string trimmer, hedge trimmer, sweeper vac and a sweeper/blower vac.

PowerDrive Transmission Delivers More Power

Power Command allows you to choose the amount of power you need to get the job done. Choose MAX power if you need to tackle thick weeds (8500 RPM). If you are doing light duty weeds you can use the MAX runtime (6500 RPM). This will increase the battery life. The PowerDrive Transmission delivers more power from the motor to the cutting string allowing you to cut twice as much at one time. With this exclusive transmission you will be able to trim in hard-to-reach area where mowers cannot cut while at the same time, you will be able to maintain a neat edging along hard surfaces.

No Bumping Needed With the Automatic Feed Spool

The automatic feed spool ensures being able to work continuously without having to “bump” to release the line. AFS uses centrifugal force to dispense more line whenever you need it. One reviewer mentioned that at first he was running the trimmer with the power set at “6” and he went through his first spool quite rapidly. However, he experimented with reducing the power to “1” and it greatly increased the length of time that the spool lasted and he didn’t really see any significant loss of cutting power. So consequently, it seems that reducing the speed of the trimmer will not only increase the battery life, but it will increase your spool life too.

Converts To An Edger

The head on the Black and Decker LST136W can be rotated 180 degrees for a quick switch from being a trimmer to being an edger. Other features include an auxiliary handle with quick release and a 13 inch cutting swath.
