Black and Decker’s 40-volt lithium-ion system offers numerous benefits over older battery technologies and gas options. Lots of power in a small, compact battery. Lithium batteries have a longer lifecycle than other batteries and they hold their charge longer once taken off the charger. What this means is that once charged, it will always be ready to use.
The high performance 40V MAX battery provides a long runtime. Reviewers state that it averages about 30 minutes, up to 45 minutes if you run it on the lowest speed. A state of charge indicator shows the battery charge level. Just press a button and between 1 and 4 little lights show how much power the battery has left. Included is a fast charger that will recharge the battery in about 90 minutes or less.
The Power Command feature controls the speed allowing you to choose either maximum run time or maximum power. The 40 Volt battery that comes with the LSW36 is versatile and can be shared with other tools within the Power Command System. For example, there is a combo pack available where you can purchase the Black and Decker LSW36 Sweeper and the Black and Decker LST136 40V Max String Trimmer. The battery can be shared between both of these tools. You can also purchase additional batteries so you don’t run out of power before you get the job done. However, if you already own other Power Command tools and don’t need another battery the Black and Decker LSW36 can also be ordered without the battery.
